Unique Services

Holmes Veterinary Hospital provides a number of unique services that we feel make us outstanding providers of companion animal care. Here is a short list of our special services.

Feral Cats:  We assist many people in trap/spay or neuter/release of semi-wild or feral cats by loaning them our humane trap in which to capture these animals.  When presented to us, we are able to gently induce anesthesia for a spay or neuter without having to even get these stressed cats out of the trap.  Afer their surgery, we notch the ears of these cats so they may be easily identified as already spayed or neutered should they be caught again.

Coggins Tests:  While we are not a large animal practice, Dr. Burns is licensed and accredited to do Coggins (Equine Infectious Anemia) tests on horses. In the rear of our hospital, there is a circular driveway that easily accomodates most horse trailers--without the need to back the trailer up.

Weekend pickup and treatment services:  Even when our office is closed, someone comes in and cares for the patients and boarding pets.  If your pet requires outpatient treatment, it will be prearranged to have a treatment technician meet you here to administer your pets medications and other treatments.  We also allow pets that have had medical or surgical procedures or pets that have been boarded to be picked up on the weekends at a pre-arranged time.

Drop Offs:  Pets may be dropped off on your way to work and picked up later in the day if this is convenient for you.  This service is available for well pet exams, baths, diagnostic procedures and for sick/injured pets.  Even though we are not open until 8:00 am, you can pre-arrange to drop your pet off as early as 7:30 am in some cases.  We must have a phone number where you can be contacted during the working day if you drop your pet off.

Vaccination "Clinics":  Once a month, we offer a reduced-price vaccination clinic.  Our vaccination clinic is held on the THIRD WEDNESDAY of EVERY MONTH from 11:00am to 1:00pm in our office.  Vaccinations are approximately one-half price, but they do not include a physical examination, something we recommend for all pets once a year.  Please not that due to time constraints, we do not offer 3 year vaccination screening and vaccines at our vaccination clinics.
