Winter in the South...and we still have plenty of fleas.  It may be news to you, but this is not unusual for our area.  You will need to provide flea control and heartworm prevention year-round.

Please make sure outdoor pets have fresh water (on cold days you may have to thaw outdoor water sources frequently), good insulating bedding (wheat or oat straw), and maybe increase food by 20 to 25 % on very cold days.

In Case of Snow or Ice

Hospitalized and boarding pets will be cared for but office hours and services may be abbreviated, as most of our employees commute.

Deer Season Is Open September 15-Jan 1

Please Keep Your Dogs Confined!

Dogs are killed or seriously injured during deer season every year.  Dr. Burns has removed arrows from dogs and has to treat many gunshot wounds in dogs during deer season.

Many people do not believe that it could happen to their dog, or that their dog does not run off of their property.  Yet every year it happens.  We even have cases where dogs are shot on their own land.

Please, keep your dog confined during deer hunting season (Sept 15, 2008-Jan 1, 2009).  Just in case your dog gets away from you and goes running in the woods, make she he wears a collar--preferrably brightly colored--and tags.
